Mary, a former church choir singer and mother of four, has shared her life story, revealing how she once maintained relationships with two men who knew about each other while living in different parts of Nairobi.
Speaking about her past, Mary said she became pregnant with her first child while in Form Three after an older man invited her to what she believed was a Bible study session.
“I got pregnant in Form Three and told him; he did not refuse. He later went abroad when I was in Form Four and I continued with life,” she said.
She later had a second child with another man in 2003 before entering another relationship with a businessman who wanted her to stop working. According to Mary, the relationship ended after disagreements over her job, leaving her to raise three children.
Balancing Two Relationships
Mary said she later relocated to Nairobi, settling in Kayole, where she worked at Machakos Country Bus. While there, she entered a relationship with a man living in Kayole.
She later met another man from Mombasa, whom she helped settle in Dandora.
“I used to go to Dandora and stay with the man the whole day then go back to the one in Kayole at night. The one in Kayole only wanted to eat mogoka but the second one in Dandora was a calm guy,” she recalled.
According to Mary, both men were aware of each other’s existence.
She claimed the man in Kayole knew she had become pregnant by another man but never confronted her, while the father of the child continued providing food and other necessities despite knowing she lived with someone else.
Hospital Stay and Relationship Breakdown
Mary also recounted spending five months at Kenyatta National Hospital after giving birth.
She said the man she lived with in Kayole visited her regularly with food and clothing but never arranged for her discharge from the hospital.
“I spent five months at KNH, and my husband in Kayole used to come with food and clothes but never got me out of the hospital; I eventually ran away from the hospital,” she said.
She added that the relationship later turned abusive, alleging that after the man began insulting and physically assaulting her, she fought back by throwing stones at him.
Reflecting on that period of her life, Mary admitted that her relationships were driven more by survival than affection.
“I never loved any of them. As long as I had a baby and I was eating, I had no problem. One gives me love and feeds me and I live with the other, who gave my kid a name,” she said.
Mary said she later left Kenya to work in Saudi Arabia, marking a new chapter in her life.
