Nairobi, Kenya – Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna have publicly expressed their disappointment at not receiving national honors during the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations.
Kuria, notably absent from the list of nine Cabinet Secretaries awarded the prestigious Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (E.G.H.), subtly suggested that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua may have played a role in his omission.
He posted two images on X: one showcasing the gazette notice featuring the honorees, and another highlighting the Office of the Deputy President’s involvement in selecting recipients. The National and County Government Honours Advisory Committee, responsible for recommending nominees, falls under this office.
With a cryptic caption, “We shall be there no matter what,” Kuria seemed to imply that he was not discouraged by the snub.
Similarly, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna voiced his discontent on X after being overlooked for the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) award.
While nominated for the honor, he directly attributed his exclusion to President William Ruto, stating, “I respect Ruto’s decision denying me the national honors I had been nominated for. I always suspected the disdain was mutual.” He concluded by congratulating the recipients and expressing gratitude to Parliament for recognizing his efforts.
