Lizzie Muthoni Wanyoike, the esteemed founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nairobi Institute of Technology and Business Studies (formerly Nairobi Institute of Business Studies – NIBS), is set to be laid to rest at her ex-husband’s residence in Gatanga.

Her late former husband, Mr. Mburu Wanyoike, who passed away in 2018 served as Gatanga MP from 1992 to 1997. At one time he also served as Director of the Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC).

Despite their separation in 1997, the couple, who had been married since 1972, maintained a close connection.

Mburu Wanyoike was also the father of their three children – Wanyoike Mburu, Stella Wanjiru, and Eric Kariuki.

Lizzie Wanyoike consistently emphasized that the dissolution of their marriage after 25 years was primarily due to divergent investment perspectives rather than emotional differences.

According to the schedule provided by Lizzie’s family, the funeral ceremony is set for Tuesday, January 23, 2024.

Lizzie Wanyoike, a revered educator, founder of Lizzie Preparatory Schools, and proprietor of Emory Hotel, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, reportedly succumbing to cancer. At the time of her passing, she was 73.

The family announced that prayers would be conducted in Garden Estate, Oaklane, Opposite Oakplace House number 13, starting from Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

Additionally, a memorial service is set for Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the ACK St. Joseph of Arimathea, Thome Estate along Thika Road, beginning at 2:20 pm.
