Ethics and Anti-Corruption (EACC) detectives have on Tuesday, January 23, arrested and detained two officers from Nairobi City County government on allegations of corruption and revenue diversion.
The arrested individuals include the Officer-In-Charge of the Data Office at St. Peter Clavers Revenue offices in Starehe Sub-County and a student serving as an intern at the same revenue office.
The duo are facing charges related to the diversion of county revenue. They have been accused of manipulation of the Nairobi Revenue Services portal to deceitfully display full payment for services which in real sense have not been rendered.

According to EACC, the suspects convinced a complainant, who visited the revenue offices to pay Sh45,000 for annual parking fees on his commercial vehicles, to deposit the money into a private bank account belonging to John Gachagua.
In return, the complainant would be allowed to pay a reduced amount.
To demonstrate the feasibility of the arrangement, the suspects entered the complainant’s vehicle registration details into the revenue portal, falsely indicating that full payment had been made.
Remarkably, the complainant verified that the portal reflected full payment for the entire year, even though he hadn’t deposited any funds.
An anonymous report was then shared to the detectives informing them of the fraudulent scheme.
EACC promptly responded to the alert and arrested the two individuals involved in the corrupt scheme.
