Bandari Football Club vice chairman, Twaha Mbarak, has officially thrown his hat into the ring for the upcoming Football Kenya Federation (FKF) presidential race.
Mbarak’s candidacy is underpinned by a vision to rejuvenate Kenyan football by implementing an efficient development framework. This framework aims to establish a solid foundation for all junior national teams, ensuring a pipeline of well-trained players for the senior squads.
“My dream of guiding Kenyan football is still alive, and I am hoping Kenyans will give me the opportunity to revive and rekindle the untapped talents among our players,” Mbarak stated.
As part of his strategy, the former Kenya Football Federation (KFF) vice chairperson has pledged to collaborate closely with county governments and corporations to secure sponsorships for all leagues.
“I want to work with visionary people to bring on board sponsors and corporations together with our 47-county governments so that our league can be competitive,” he added.
In the race for the FKF presidency, Mbarak will face competition from other aspirants, including Hussein Mohammed and Sammy Kempes Owino, who have also declared their interest in the top position.
The upcoming elections, scheduled before the end of 2024, were discussed and agreed on during the FKF National Executive Committee meeting earlier this year.
Incumbent Nick Mwendwa is also in the race hoping to retain his seat.
