Kenya Power has issued a notice informing citizens of a scheduled blackout on Friday, February 16, 2024. In a notice posted on its website, the utility firm stated that the power interruption is essential to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines in the network.
“The electricity supply will be interrupted as outlined under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules, to enable periodic maintenance and upgrade of power lines, connection of new customers, or replacement of power lines during construction,” Kenya Power announced.
The scheduled power outage on Friday, February 16, 2024, will impact Nairobi, Kisii, and Kiambu Counties.
Specifically, certain areas within Nairobi County, notably South B and Plains View, will experience an eight-hour blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The affected areas include Comply Industries, South B Chief’s Camp, South B Total Petrol Station, NHIF Houses, South B Mosque, Bondo Road, Kariba Estate, River Bank Estate, parts of Mariakani Estate, Hazina Estates, Plains View Estate, parts of Parkside View Estate, and ACK St. Veronica Catholic Church.
Others include Plainsview Junior Academy, Golden Gate Estate, Aoko Road, Balozi Estate, Railway Training Institute, South B Shopping Centre, Mater Hospital, Mariakani Estate, Daidai Road, Kapiti Road, Highway Secondary School, Elimu Sacco, South B Police Station, KIMC, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Kenol Kobil Petrol Station, and adjacent customers.
