The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a forecast advising Kenyans to brace themselves for dry and sunny weather prevailing across most parts of the country throughout this week.

According to the statement released on Tuesday, February 20, the weatherman highlighted that elevated daytime temperatures, surpassing 30°C, will characterize the weather in at least 29 counties for the entire week.

These counties include Nairobi, Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Isiolo, Garissa, Tana River, Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale, Taita Taveta, Kajiado, Makueni, Kitui, and Machakos, among others such as Kiambu, Embu, Laikipia, Baringo, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West Pokot, Bungoma, Kakamega, Kisumu, Busia, and Narok.

While these areas brace for scorching temperatures, the South Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Highlands East/West of the Rift Valley, Southeastern lowlands, Coast, and Northeastern Kenya may experience light to moderate rainfall.

The Met Department cautioned that certain regions might encounter low nighttime temperatures below 10°C, alongside the daytime heat waves.

“Stay prepared for fluctuating weather conditions this week!” urged the weatherman.

To cope with the sweltering days, the public has been advised to remain hydrated and shield themselves from the sun’s intense rays. Additionally, they should dress warmly to combat the cooler temperatures experienced during the nights.
