Sam Gituku’s career trajectory at Citizen TV has taken a notable upward turn following his recent promotion, which comes hot on the heels of his Master’s Degree graduation in Digital Journalism from The Aga Khan University.
His advancement sees him assume the role of Editor, Quality, and Product Development at Royal Media Services (RMS), a move lauded by Linus Kaikai, the Group Editorial Director, who commended Gituku’s pivotal role in driving the station’s growth.
“I am delighted to announce that Sam Gituku has been promoted to Editor, Quality and Product Development in line with the company’s policy of recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance in a staffer’s respective role,” Kaikai declared.
“For the last three years, Sam has demonstrated exceptional resourcefulness and consistency in driving some of the Group’s on-air products, in a way that merits and obliges the next level roles.”
Meanwhile, Chemutai Goin, a senior political reporter at Citizen TV, bid farewell to her colleagues in what she described as a bittersweet departure from Royal Media Services (RMS).

During a farewell gathering organized by her peers at the Citizen TV offices, Goin reflected on her time at the station, expressing gratitude for the opportunities it afforded her to excel in her role as a political reporter.
“Leaving for me is bittersweet because this is where I had my wings and I went to the eagles and I think that is where I will stay and even as we go to other ventures, we will still find each other,” Goin remarked.
She credited her growth as a journalist to her tenure at Citizen TV, acknowledging the support she received from colleagues who helped hone her skills, particularly in reporting in Swahili, a language she initially struggled with.
“I’m glad I have really grown, everyone here held my hand. I never used to report in Swahili when I came here, I can do Swahili now, my confidence went up, I could do life,” she reflected.
Goin, reminiscing about her initial days at the station, expressed a sense of returning home, working alongside individuals who had been part of her journey from her early days as an intern.
“I don’t really have much to say. Today I was looking at my first sign-off that was November 21, 2018, when I first came here. I knew I was coming home,” she shared. “When I was an intern Yusuf was my teacher at KTN and Muraya was a senior political reporter, so I was just coming back to people that I had been with.”
Goin is slated to start her new role at the office of the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula as the principal media relations officer.
