The late Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Francis Ogolla, will be laid to rest at his family home in Mor, Alego Usonga, Siaya County on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

The family disclosed that General Ogolla had stipulated in his Will that he wished to be buried within 72 hours of his demise.

The burial ceremony will be preceded by a memorial service at his local church in Nduru. The family is collaborating with a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) committee to ensure that the distinguished General receives a fitting send-off.

General Ogolla tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash on Thursday in the Sindar area of Elgeyo Marakwet County, alongside nine other military personnel.

Prior to the accident, he was scheduled to visit Siaya County on Saturday, April 20, to commemorate his father Joel Okech’s upcoming 100th birthday celebration. The festivities were planned to continue into Sunday, engaging the local community.

In response to General Ogolla’s passing, President William Ruto declared three days of national mourning, recognizing the significance of his service and contributions.
