Agnes Kalekye Nguna has been appointed the new Managing Director and CEO of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) for a three-year term.
The announcement was made on Friday by ICT and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo, through the KBC Board Chairperson. The appointment is effective immediately.
“The Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, Eliud Owalo, FIHRM, EGH, has appointed Ms. Agnes Kalekye Nguna as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC),” said Mulei Muia, Director of Public Communications.
“This appointment, which is effective immediately, will run for a period of three years,” he said.
Ms. Nguna currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer at The Star Publications and is the Chairperson of the Media Owners Association.
She will be taking over from Acting MD Paul Macharia, who was appointed on December 19 for a six-month period following the dismissal of his predecessor, Samuel Maina. Maina was sacked over an alleged commitment to pay British broadcaster Channel 2 Group $5 billion (Ksh.769.5 billion).
