American rapper Kanye West, also known as Ye, has announced plans to perform in Kenya later this year.
The artist, who has sold 160 million albums worldwide and shares the record with Jay-Z for the most Grammy Awards ever won, making them the joint tenth most successful artists of all time, revealed his plans on social media.
Ye will perform at Nairobi’s Nyayo National Stadium on December 7, 2024. Kenya is one of three African nations included in his global tour schedule, alongside Egypt and Ethiopia. He is set to play at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt and will be seen at Eko Energy City in Nigeria.
The tour is part of a busy year for Kanye, who is also expected to perform in Spain, Argentina, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and Mexico. Kenyan hip-hop fans are eagerly awaiting more details about the tour, which have yet to be fully disclosed.
Kenya, known for producing its own hip-hop stars such as Octopizzo and Khaligraph Jones, has a significant fan base for American hip-hop music. Kanye’s upcoming visit is highly anticipated and marks a significant event for local fans.
Additionally, there is speculation about whether Kanye will bring his Australian wife, Bianca Censori, along on the tour. The couple has frequently made headlines over the past year for their controversial fashion choices. Bianca’s recent outfit, which consisted solely of a raincoat with nothing underneath, sparked considerable criticism and debate.
Fans are divided over the couple’s public appearances, with some expressing strong disapproval. Despite the controversy, Kanye’s visit is set to be a major event in Kenya, promising an exciting experience for his fans.
