A prison warden was arrested in Nairobi’s Mwihoko area after authorities discovered 14 blank bullets in his residence.
The officer, employed at Nairobi Remand Prison, was taken into custody following an investigation that led the police to his home.
While such bullets are typically used for training purposes, they can pose a risk if discharged at close range.
The motive behind the warden’s possession of the bullets remains unclear and is under investigation.
Meanwhile, police in Mwea, Embu County, are facing scrutiny following the fatal shooting of a man during a confrontation.
According to police reports, a team of officers was on patrol when they encountered resistance from a crowd opposing operations targeting alcohol sales in the Kiandai shopping center.
In response to the confrontation, one of the officers fired a shot that fatally wounded a middle-aged man.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head, with the bullet exiting from the upper side.
The firearm involved in the incident, an AK-47 with 22 rounds, has been secured as evidence.
