Defence CS Aden Duale has revealed that the helicopter crash that claimed the life of former Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla involved a unique aircraft with special capabilities, including the ability to fly at night.
During a statement on Wednesday, Duale described the helicopter as an operational logistics aircraft used by Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers for missions in challenging terrains and insecure areas. He refuted claims that the helicopter was old, asserting that he, along with other senior security officials in the country, had personally used it multiple times.
Duale confirmed that investigations into the crash are ongoing and mentioned that President William Ruto would soon make the findings public. However, he did not specify when the report would be released.
Following the tragic incident, which also claimed the lives of nine other officers, President Ruto announced that the Kenya Air Force had assembled and dispatched an air investigation team to determine the cause of the crash.
