A police officer based at Kamukunji Police Station narrowly escaped death after a dramatic confrontation with a colleague early Wednesday morning.
According to a police report, Police Constable (PC) Piro Mwarsho was on patrol in the Muthurwa area at around 2:20 a.m. alongside his colleagues PC Jin Ouma and PC Bernard Muroti from Muthurwa Police Post.
Mwarsho briefly excused himself to collect his mobile phone, which he had left charging at a bar. However, upon arrival, he encountered PC Emmanuel Juma, who accused him of having an affair with his girlfriend.
The situation quickly escalated when Juma allegedly slapped Mwarsho multiple times before drawing his AK-47 rifle, cocking it, and firing a single shot. The bullet narrowly missed Mwarsho, instead piercing a metallic wall and a tube grill. Fortunately, Mwarsho managed to escape unharmed and reported the incident at Kamukunji Police Station.
Police officers from Kamukunji visited the scene, but no spent cartridge was recovered. PC Juma fled immediately after the incident but later surrendered and was taken into custody. His rifle was secured as an exhibit, and investigations into the shooting are ongoing.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
