Police in Nairobi’s Zimmerman area are investigating the tragic drowning of a two-year-old boy, which occurred on Thursday, March 27.

According to the child’s parents, they had left him in the care of their house help when the incident happened. The housekeeper told police that she was busy with household chores when she realised the boy had fallen into a water-filled basin and drowned.

The child had reportedly been playing near the basin before the accident.

Authorities who arrived at the scene confirmed the drowning. Despite efforts by the house help and neighbours to rush him to a nearby hospital, doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
