Detectives looking into the alleged abduction and torture of Juja Member of Parliament (MP) George Koimburi were denied access to him at the hospital where he is currently admitted.

The officers, who intended to assess the MP’s condition and question the medical personnel attending to him, were informed they could not proceed with their inquiries at that time.

The investigative team made attempts to access the hospital on both Monday evening and Tuesday morning, but were unsuccessful in gathering any information. Their efforts were blocked by the MP’s family, who declined to grant permission for the detectives to speak with him or the doctors.

Officials confirmed that the detectives revisited the location where Koimburi was found on Monday, just hours after he claimed to have been abducted following a church event on Sunday.

Law enforcement authorities have distanced themselves from the alleged incident, suggesting that the ordeal may have been staged or orchestrated by other individuals.

Police spokesman Michael Muchiri said police were not involved in the drama.

He further clarified that the MP is currently under investigation over a land fraud case, and that a consent to prosecute was issued by the Office of the Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
