Gachagua: Juja MP Koimburi forced to inhale poisonous chemical during abduction

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made chilling revelations about the ordeal of Juja MP George Koimburi, who was abducted and later found brutally injured and dumped in a coffee plantation.

Speaking after visiting the MP at a Karen hospital on Monday, May 26, Gachagua disclosed that Koimburi had been tortured by professionals and was unable to speak, only managing to communicate by writing down his experiences.

According to Gachagua, doctors believe the MP was forced to inhale a chemical substance during his abduction, which has severely affected his vocal cords.

“Some chemical was administered through inhalation, and the doctors have told us that preliminary investigations confirm that the chemical has interfered with his vocal cords,” Gachagua revealed.

He also confirmed that Koimburi had suffered soft tissue injuries, consistent with signs of torture.

Doctors have reportedly taken blood and urine samples for laboratory analysis to determine if the MP was poisoned.

“They are doing everything within their power to make sure he is out of danger,” Gachagua assured.

Political Tensions Escalate

Beyond the health scare, Gachagua raised the alarm over a broader pattern of intimidation targeting his political allies. He alleged that Koimburi’s abduction was part of a larger effort to instill fear in MPs who are seen as close to him.

He claimed that security details for some of his allies have been withdrawn, leaving them vulnerable and forcing them to take extra precautions.

In a stark warning, Gachagua held President William Ruto personally accountable should any harm befall MPs aligned with him.

“If anything happens to any of our people, the President will bear full responsibility,” he said firmly.

Koimburi was abducted by unknown assailants on Sunday afternoon outside a church in Mugutha, Kiambu County, in full view of his wife. He was found the next morning, beaten and disoriented, in a Kiambu coffee plantation.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has denied involvement but acknowledged Koimburi is under investigation over alleged land fraud and misuse of CDF funds.
