Juja Member of Parliament (MP) George Koimburi has been discovered abandoned in a coffee plantation in Kiambu County, following reports that he was abducted over the weekend.
His family has confirmed that the legislator is currently receiving medical treatment at Plainsview Hospital near Ruiru town.
According to initial reports, Koimburi was allegedly seized by unidentified individuals outside a church in Mugutha, Kiambu County, on Sunday. During the incident, his wife, Ann Koimburi, sustained injuries amid the chaos.
While speculation has been mounting over the circumstances of his disappearance, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has distanced itself from any involvement in the abduction. However, the agency did acknowledge that Koimburi has been under investigation since Friday in connection with allegations of land fraud and the misuse of Constituency Development Funds (CDF).
Authorities say investigations are ongoing as both the public and political circles demand answers regarding the MP’s ordeal and the motive behind his alleged abduction.
