Police in Nairobi are pursuing a gang responsible for the brutal killing of Peter Muthama, a 28-year-old man who was stabbed to death during a robbery in Mathare slums on June 1, 2025.
According to authorities, Muthama was attacked during a struggle with suspected thugs and was stabbed in the back. His body was discovered hours later lying next to a makeshift structure in the area.
The attackers are believed to have fled the scene immediately after the incident. Police collected the body and moved it to the mortuary pending a postmortem and further investigations.
Police have warned the public about the growing risk of violent robberies, especially involving suspects believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They advise victims to cooperate during robberies to reduce the risk of serious harm or death, noting that resistance often leads to fatal outcomes.
A manhunt for the suspects is underway, with officers calling on anyone with information to assist in the ongoing investigation.
