A police officer was shot and killed while two others sustained injuries in a deadly ambush by gunmen in the Free Area of Nakuru Town in the early hours of Monday morning.
According to police reports, the officers were responding to a distress call around 1:00 a.m. when they were ambushed. One of the injured officers was also attacked with a machete during the incident.
The fallen officer was attached to Bondeni Police Station, police confirmed.
In the aftermath of the attack, a security operation was swiftly launched in the area, leading to the arrest of two key suspects and the recovery of a firearm.
“An operation was staged in the area that saw two key suspects arrested and a gun recovered,” police said.
The injured officers are currently receiving treatment at Nakuru Level Five Hospital, while the body of the deceased was transferred to the mortuary. A manhunt for additional suspects is ongoing as investigations continue.
