Gachagua declares 2027 victory over Ruto, dismisses Raila’s political influence

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has boldly declared that he will defeat President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 General Election, regardless of whether Raila Odinga contests or supports his rival.

While addressing Kenyans in the United States on Friday, Gachagua exuded confidence in his political movement, claiming it has the strength to overcome any alliance formed between President Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

“Even if they are together, we will beat them 70 plus 1. If Raila decides to run, Ruto will be number four in the elections. Either way, we are okay. He is one-term,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua further dismissed the idea that Raila’s endorsement could strengthen Ruto’s re-election bid, stating that Odinga no longer holds the political weight he once did—even in his traditional strongholds.

He alleged that several communities that previously stood with Raila have since shifted allegiance and now support his camp.
