Nairobi, Kenya – July 18, 2025, 09:00 AM EAT: Naivas Supermarket has launched nationwide celebrations to commemorate its 35th anniversary, surprising shoppers with free shopping vouchers and instant giveaways at branches across Nairobi and other regions.

Kenya’s leading retailer kicked off the campaign at outlets like The Curve in Lavington and Medlink in Lang’ata, where excited customers received gifts and rewards directly at the tills.

“I feel so excited. It was amazing—I didn’t expect to get these gifts. I really appreciate Naivas,” said Mary Maculate, a customer at the Lavington branch.

Shoppers Praise the Initiative

For many Kenyans facing tough economic times, the rewards couldn’t have come at a better moment.

“I’ve saved a lot today, courtesy of Naivas. Thanks for the shopping—this goes a long way,” said John Oito, a shopper at the Lang’ata outlet.

A Retail Giant Born in Kenya

Naivas, which now operates 109 branches and employs over 12,000 staff, has grown to become a household name in Kenyan retail. The company credits its success to strong customer loyalty, trusted supplier relationships, and its mission to provide value at affordable prices.

“Everyone is happy—the customers got good deals, and as suppliers, we’re also happy,” said Manish Popat, a long-time Naivas supplier.

What’s Next for Naivas?

According to Joseph Pertton, Naivas Head of Strategy, the anniversary also signals a renewed push for growth.

“We will continue to grow our footprint. Where we see opportunities, we will certainly be coming to give the great offering that Naivas does,” he said, noting that new stores are already in the pipeline.

Commitment Beyond Expansion

While the expansion plans are exciting, Naivas says its 35th anniversary is about more than just numbers.

The company is committed to deepening its ties with Kenyan communities, making shopping easier, more accessible, and rewarding for all.
