Kenyan singer Victoria Kimani has opened up about a brief studio encounter she once had with American music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, calling it a moment of divine protection in hindsight.
Speaking on the Mic Cheque Podcast, Kimani revealed that during her time under a music publishing deal, she frequently worked with various producers in the U.S., which eventually led her to renowned producer Mario Winans—best known for “I Don’t Wanna Know” featuring Diddy.
It was through Winans that Kimani found herself at Diddy’s house for what turned out to be a short-lived creative session.
“That’s how I ended up in Diddy’s house,” Kimani recounted. “I didn’t go to any freak-off. I only met him one time. Honestly, I didn’t hear anything.”
Kimani said she wrote two songs during that session. Diddy, she said, came in briefly, listened to her work, and left.
“He just walked in, listened to both the songs, shook my hand. He was like, ‘That’s fire,’ and then he left, and that was it,” she said, describing their only interaction.
Years later, as Diddy faces multiple allegations of sexual assault and trafficking—including a high-profile lawsuit by his ex-partner Cassie Ventura—Kimani says she now views the missed opportunity as divine protection.
“That was the first and last time I saw him. So the Holy Spirit was protecting me.”
She added candidly:
“I don’t think I was his type. Let’s be very fair. I was not his type, plus he was with Cassie.”
Kimani also revealed she was approached to coach Cassie on a song titled Bougie S, but never made it to the session due to heavy rain and lack of fare—a turn of events she now believes wasn’t just coincidence.
“I think that was God protecting me though, honestly,” she said.
