Kenyan singer Bahati has finally broken his silence regarding his much-publicised promise to donate Ksh1 million to Harambee Stars, a pledge that remains unfulfilled weeks after he announced it.
In a candid sit-down at his Nairobi home with fellow gospel artist DK Kwenye Beat, Bahati revealed that his goodwill gesture had been sabotaged and unnecessarily turned into online drama.
Bahati Speaks on Donation Delay
The award-winning musician said there were individuals intentionally frustrating the process.
“Kuna watu wana sabotage hii process ya mimi kupea Harambee Stars hii one million. Ndio ikue maneno mingi maneno mingi,” he explained.
Bahati further noted that the issue had been exaggerated on social media and blown out of proportion by critics seeking clout.
“Ksh1 Million is Small Money” – Bahati
The artist emphasized that the amount in question should not be the cause of endless online chatter, insisting that Ksh1 million is not a significant figure for him.
“Hii ni one million, two million, three million. One million is too small for me. Hiyo si pesa tunasumbuana nayo kila saa online. Hii ni kitu kidogo. Avoid the people who think one million is a lot of money. That is a poor mindset,” Bahati declared.
Background of the Pledge
Bahati initially made the bold promise in a show of patriotism after Harambee Stars’ recent performance, earning him praise from fans. However, weeks later, the delay in fulfilling the pledge has generated widespread debate online, with critics questioning his sincerity.
The singer’s latest remarks are likely to spark even more conversations around celebrity donations and public accountability in Kenya.
