Popular social media personality Cashmere Sayyid has once again become the talk of the internet after drawing parallels between her much-discussed staged wedding and the recent wedding of Tanzanian singer Jux.
In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Cashmere posted a photogrid of Jux’s glamorous ceremony alongside her own staged event. She captioned it:
“A wedding is a wedding. You get married to the person/thing you love the most.”
The bold comparison has reignited online conversations about her elaborate “wedding” earlier this month.
The Viral Fake Wedding Stunt
The so-called wedding, held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, had been hyped as one of the year’s biggest celebrity events. Fans, influencers, and entertainment media flocked to see the union—only to discover it wasn’t a wedding at all.
Instead, Cashmere revealed it was the launch of a new school—a project she described as deeply personal and inspired by the struggles she faced growing up.
According to reports on sauce.co.ke, she deliberately allowed the wedding rumours to go viral to bring attention to her educational cause.
Childhood Struggles Behind the Cause
During her emotional speech that night, Cashmere opened up about a harrowing experience from her youth.
“I remember when I was young; I was almost married off to an old man,” she recalled. “I wasn’t told what was happening at first, but I later learned the man specifically wanted an underage girl like me.”
She explained that after this ordeal, she was enrolled in a high school where she immersed herself in studies.
However, family debts forced her to drop out, and she faced the risk of being sent back to Ethiopia for another arranged marriage.
Education as a Mission
Cashmere says these painful experiences now fuel her determination to create learning opportunities for others, especially young girls at risk of early marriage.
