Kisumu, Kenya – August 12, 2025 – The Kenyan media fraternity is mourning the death of veteran radio host and presenter Charles Omuga Kabisae, who passed away after a prolonged battle with illness.

Kabisae was a household name in the 1990s and early 2000s, rising to fame during his time at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC). He became widely recognized for delivering the “Matangazo Maalum na Ya Vifo” (official and death announcements) – a segment that became part of KBC’s identity during his tenure.

Early Career in Kisumu

Kabisae began his mainstream journalism career at KBC’s Luo service in Kisumu before transitioning to the Swahili service. His authoritative voice and distinctive presentation style earned him respect and recognition in the Kenyan broadcasting scene.
