The government has announced free entry into all national parks, game reserves, and sanctuaries across the country this Saturday in celebration of World Tourism Day.
Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano confirmed the directive, noting that all Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS)-managed parks, reserves, and sanctuaries will be open at no charge to Kenyan citizens for the day.
“To honour this significant occasion, I am pleased to announce that the Government of Kenya will grant free entry to all Kenyan citizens wishing to visit KWS-managed national parks, reserves, and sanctuaries,” CS Miano said.
The CS explained that the move is aimed at encouraging Kenyans to appreciate the country’s rich biodiversity while fostering a shared sense of responsibility to safeguard it for future generations.
“We invite all Kenyans to seize this opportunity to explore, learn, and celebrate the beauty of our parks, reserves, and sanctuaries – treasures that are not only Kenya’s pride but also part of the world’s heritage,” she added.
Kenya is globally renowned for its iconic destinations, including the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Amboseli National Park, Tsavo, and Nairobi National Park, which attract millions of tourists every year. By granting free entry, the government hopes to boost domestic tourism and strengthen awareness of wildlife conservation.
