Controversial Nairobi businessman and socialite Jimal Rohosafi, popularly known for his high-profile marriage to influencer Amber Ray, has been accused of defrauding more than 2,500 Nairobi residents of over Ksh24 million through his company, Huduma Credit.
According to multiple victims, the company had been running a “Lipa Pole Pole” payment plan, promising to deliver electric motorbikes to clients who made deposits and continued paying weekly or daily instalments.
Nairobi Residents Storm Huduma Credit Offices
For the past two months, clients claim they have neither received their motorbikes nor refunds, despite making full or partial payments.
Dozens of angry Nairobi residents stormed Huduma Credit offices earlier this week demanding refunds and accusing the company of running a well-orchestrated scam.
“They told us to pay small deposits and start instalments. Two months later, no motorbikes, no updates — just excuses,” one frustrated client told reporters.
Victims Cry Foul as Jimal Goes Silent
Sources allege that Jimal Rohosafi, who has been the public face of Huduma Credit, has gone silent since the complaints surfaced.
Employees at the firm’s offices in Nairobi’s Central Business District reportedly told customers that management was “handling internal issues” and urged them to be patient.
Victims, however, insist they have been “fed with lies” and now believe the operation is fraudulent.
The case has sparked outrage on social media, with many Kenyans calling for law enforcement agencies such as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) to probe the company’s operations.
Authorities Expected to Investigate
Consumer protection advocates have urged those affected to file formal complaints with relevant agencies to facilitate a thorough investigation.
If proven, the alleged scam could expose Jimal to serious legal and financial consequences, including potential criminal charges for fraud and obtaining money by false pretences.
