Two police officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters have been arrested for allegedly staging a robbery with violence at a home in Mirema, Kasarani, Nairobi.
According to a police report, the incident occurred on October 19, 2025, when a motorist was confronted by three armed men as he parked outside his house along Mirema Drive.
The assailants, reportedly armed with AK-47 rifles, were driving a Subaru Forester with private registration plates.
“They ordered me to open the safe containing my travel documents and USD 16,000 in cash,” the victim told police.
The suspects allegedly counted the money before forcing the man into their car and driving off toward Lumumba Drive, later abandoning him near Jessekay Hospital.
After escaping, the victim took a boda boda back home and reported the matter to Kasarani Police Station.
Investigators traced the suspects and discovered they were fellow officers based at the DCI headquarters. They were arrested and placed in custody pending interrogation and disciplinary action.
Police officials described the incident as isolated, stressing that rogue officers will be held accountable.
“The conduct of a few individuals should not tarnish the integrity of the entire service. The law will take its course,” a senior officer said.
The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
