Nairobi, Kenya – October 2, 2025 – Social media influencer Azziad Nasenya is in a Sh21 million court dispute with Qona Deposit Taking Savings and Credit Society (Sacco).
Dispute Over Loan Repayment
Nasenya filed her case at the Commercial Court in Nairobi. She claims Qona Sacco illegally listed her Sh20 million apartment for auction. According to her, she had an agreement with the Sacco to buy an apartment at Platinum Oak Apartments in Nairobi. She would then repay the loan under agreed timelines.
She says the tough economy made her fall into arrears of about Sh1.5 million by September 2025. The Sacco then used Sh2.4 million from her savings to clear the pending balance.
“As of September 19, 2025, I had no loan arrears and expected the balance to serve as credit,” her affidavit states.
Despite that, Qona published an advert in the Daily Nation on September 24, announcing that the property would be sold on October 8.
Azziad Calls the Move Unfair
Nasenya says the Sacco’s actions were illegal and unfair. She argues that Qona used two recovery methods at once — liquidating her savings while also planning to sell the same property.
“The first respondent is recovering the same amount twice. They cleared the arrears with my savings and are now selling my property,” her lawyer told the court.
She adds that Qona failed to give her proper notice before the auction. This, she says, violates fair lending rules under the Sacco Societies Act.
Fear of Losing Her Home
The influencer says the sale could leave her family homeless. She insists she is ready to pay the remaining balance.
“I live in the property and intend to repay the facility in full. I am no longer in arrears,” she told the court.
She also accuses the Sacco of misleading the public by advertising the apartment as a three-bedroom unit instead of a four-bedroom one. She believes the goal was to sell it cheaply and quickly.
Court Action and Public Reaction
Nasenya now wants the court to stop Qona Sacco from selling the apartment until the case is heard and determined.
The dispute has drawn massive attention online. Fans have shown support for the TikTok star, calling for fair treatment by financial institutions.
