The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has issued a strong warning after a viral video showed controversial forex trader Raymond Omosa popularly known as Kenyan Prince, lighting a fire on a public road during his 23rd-birthday celebration. The video, widely shared across social media platforms, captured Omosa staging a dramatic fire display in the middle of an urban road, sparking public debate over safety and misuse of infrastructure.

KURA criticized the incident, stating that the fire stunt threatens public safety and exposes the road network to potential long-term damage. The authority emphasized that public roads are not entertainment venues and should never be used for such dangerous displays.

In their statement, KURA reminded road users that Kenya’s road infrastructure requires significant investment to build and maintain. Irresponsible actions such as lighting fires compromise both the structural integrity of roads and the safety of motorists and pedestrians.

“We understand the enthusiasm that comes with celebrating achievements. However, lighting fires on public roads is unacceptable. It endangers lives, disrupts safety, and causes long-term damage to our roads. Let’s act responsibly and refrain from such actions,” KURA stated.

The authority also encouraged Kenyans to report similar incidents to ensure road discipline and reduce reckless behaviour. Road safety agencies, including the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), have previously warned against stunts and unnecessary obstructions on public roads, urging citizens to prioritize responsible conduct.

As the viral video continues to trend, authorities are urging influencers and public figures to use their platforms responsibly and avoid encouraging reckless activities on public infrastructure.
