Detectives investigating the death of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo have raided a popular bar and restaurant along Magadi Road, Nairobi, as fresh details emerge surrounding his final hours.
The raid, conducted on Saturday, December 20, 2025, comes as police intensify investigations into the fatal road accident that claimed Jirongo’s life on December 13. According to investigators, forensic analysis of his movements revealed that the former legislator visited the establishment just hours before the crash.
Police sources say Jirongo is believed to have left a restaurant in Karen, driven through Lang’ata Road, and later joined Magadi Road, where he stopped at the hotel briefly before driving off. Detectives questioned staff at the joint in a bid to establish who he met, how long he stayed, what he ate or drank, and his state of mind before leaving.
“The team sought to know who he was with, for how long, what he ate or drunk and what he said,” an investigator revealed.
Hotel management declined to comment on the matter as detectives continued piecing together Jirongo’s last movements. Authorities say the operation followed tips and forensic tracking, with more than ten people already interrogated, although no arrests have been made so far.
Jirongo’s death has sparked intense public debate and speculation, with some family members demanding a thorough and transparent probe. Multiple theories have since emerged, piling pressure on police to disclose all findings.
An autopsy conducted at Lee Funeral Home, in the presence of family pathologist Joseph Ndung’u and Chief Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor, revealed that Jirongo died from blunt force trauma that caused severe injuries to the chest and abdomen, as well as injuries to the spine and legs.
As investigations continue, the raid has added a new twist to a case that continues to grip the nation, with many Kenyans eager to know what truly happened in the final hours of the former MP’s life.
