The High Court has issued temporary orders stopping a wedding scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2025, at a residence in Karen, Nairobi, following a dramatic family dispute filed before the court.
According to court documents, the application was certified as urgent, with the judge noting that the matter involves a family conflict that should ideally be settled through negotiations or mediation.
The court directed that the respondent be served personally ahead of an inter partes mention set for today, December 5, 2025, at 3 p.m. Until then, a temporary injunction bars the respondent, her agents, representatives, or anyone acting under her instructions from conducting or facilitating the planned wedding ceremony.
The case was filed by Nairobi businessman Francis Julius Ogallo, who accuses his former wife Gladys Ong’ayo Ogallo of deliberately excluding him from their daughter’s wedding and exposing him to emotional distress and public humiliation.
Through his lawyer Danstan Omari, Ogallo argues that the exclusion constitutes emotional abuse under the Protection Against Domestic Violence Act. He accuses the respondent of misrepresenting his concerns over the choice of clergy, spreading false allegations against him, and sharing his private communications with third parties.
Ogallo further claims that a similar incident occurred during the wedding of their eldest daughter in 2021. He maintains he does not oppose the marriage but only raised objections relating to the officiating clergy, whom he accuses of earlier defamatory conduct.
In his affidavit, Ogallo also reveals that he has been reported to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations over alleged threats and defamation — allegations he denies. Court papers include a DCI summons dated November 12, 2025, directing him to appear before the Nairobi Area office.
The High Court is expected to issue further directions after today’s inter partes mention.
