The Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) has issued a public warning after a fraudulent job advertisement bearing its logo and branding began circulating widely on social media platforms.

In a statement released on Monday, December 29, the state-owned agency cautioned job seekers to remain vigilant and verify all employment opportunities through official Kenya Railways communication channels to avoid falling victim to scammers.

Fake Job Advert Uses Kenya Railways Branding

According to Kenya Railways, the counterfeit advert was titled “Job Advertisement, 2025” and falsely claimed to be linked to the corporation’s 2023–2027 Strategic Plan, allegedly aimed at strengthening the rail transport sector and boosting national economic growth.

The fake notice listed numerous job openings across various departments, including:

  • Sales and Marketing Manager
  • Passenger Services Manager
  • Transport Manager
  • Security Officers
  • Registered Nurses
  • Data Entry Clerks
  • Drivers
  • Receptionists
  • Store Managers
  • Legal Services Managers
  • Several assistant roles

Applicants were instructed to submit their documents via the email address [email protected], with a stated deadline of November 30, 2025. The advert claimed that only shortlisted candidates would be contacted.

Kenya Railways Dismisses Advertisement as a Scam

Kenya Railways has categorically disowned the advertisement, describing it as fake and misleading.

“We wish to alert members of the public about a fake job advertisement circulating on various social media platforms. We strongly urge job seekers to exercise caution and verify any job opportunities through our official website: **www.krc.co.ke**,” the corporation said in its advisory.

Not the First Recruitment Scam

Kenya Railways Managing Director Philip Mainga noted that the organisation has previously been targeted by fraudsters who exploit job seekers by circulating false recruitment notices using official logos and corporate branding.

He urged Kenyans to be wary of recruitment advertisements that:

  • Request applications through non-official email addresses
  • Demand fees at any stage of recruitment
  • Are shared exclusively on social media without appearing on official platforms

How to Verify Kenya Railways Job Vacancies

KRC reminded the public that all legitimate job vacancies are announced through:

  • The official website: krc.co.ke
  • Verified Kenya Railways social media pages
  • National newspapers, where applicable

Members of the public who encounter suspicious job adverts are encouraged to report them to authorities or directly to Kenya Railways.
