Controversial American rapper 6ix9ine (Tekashi 6ix9ine) is set to begin a three-month federal prison sentence after pleading guilty to violating the terms of his supervised release.
The rapper will report to prison on January 6, where he says he will be held at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York, the same facility currently housing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and Luigi Mangione.
6ix9ine Jokes About Sharing Prison With World Figures
6ix9ine confirmed the details in a video posted on social media on Monday, where he jokingly referenced his history of being incarcerated alongside high-profile inmates.
“Yo guys, remember when I told you I was in prison with Diddy, the president of Honduras, and Sam Bankman-Fried, and you guys thought I was lying?” he said.
He added that critics later realised he was telling the truth when the former Honduran president publicly acknowledged knowing him.
“Now I’m about to go meet the president of Venezuela,” the rapper said. “I have that luck of just being locked up with presidents. Oh, and I’m about to meet Luigi too. I’m about to play chess with them, eat ramen noodles.”
Background on the Prison Facility
Both Nicolas Maduro and Luigi Mangione are currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, a federal facility known for housing high-profile detainees.
Before being transferred to Fort Dix, music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs had also awaited trial at the same detention center.
Legal Troubles Continue for the Rapper
6ix9ine pleaded guilty last year after prosecutors accused him of breaching conditions tied to his supervised release, marking yet another legal setback for the rapper, whose career has been repeatedly overshadowed by criminal cases and public controversies.
The three-month sentence will be served in federal custody, after which his supervision status will be reassessed.
