Nairobi — Nairobi County’s Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geofrey Mosiria, has exposed what he says are brothels operating under the guise of massage parlours in the upscale Kilimani area.
Mosiria revealed the alleged illegal operations through a video shared on his social media platforms, where he conducted an undercover probe while posing as a potential client.
Undercover Phone Call Raises Alarm
In the video, Mosiria is heard making a phone call while in Kilimani, an area he says is saturated with signboards advertising massage services using images of scantily dressed women.
Using the alias “Musyoka”, Mosiria inquired about services offered at one of the establishments, including illicit extras. According to him, he was informed that he could be attended by three women, each charging Sh6,000, further suggesting that the operation was well-organised and openly commercial.
Mosiria said he was also told that protection was readily available at the premises, and clients were allowed to bring their own, an indication, he argues, that the businesses were not legitimate wellness centres.
Claims of Hidden Cameras and Blackmail
In his allegations, Mosiria further claimed that some of the establishments use hidden cameras to secretly record clients, allegedly for blackmail purposes.
“These places pretend to be massage parlours, but what happens inside is something completely different,” Mosiria alleged, warning members of the public to remain vigilant.
Accusations of Regulatory Violations
The county officer accused the businesses of failing to pay signage and licensing fees required by the Nairobi County Government. He also linked the alleged operations to broader social problems, including the breakdown of marriages, moral decay, and even road accidents, claiming clients often leave the premises intoxicated or distracted.
Call for Enforcement Action
Mosiria said the county government would move to crack down on illegal businesses operating under false licences, adding that Kilimani had become a hotspot for establishments flouting county laws.
His exposé has sparked widespread debate online, with many Nairobi residents calling on authorities to enforce regulations more strictly and rein in unlicensed businesses masquerading as wellness centres.
County officials are yet to announce whether formal inspections or arrests will follow the revelations.
