IShowSpeed Treated to a Hostile Reception in Algeria

American content creator Darren Jason Watkins Jr., popularly known as IShowSpeed, was forced to cut short his appearance at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers after fans began throwing objects at him and his team.

The incident occurred on Saturday, January 17, 2026, while IShowSpeed was livestreaming his experience at the Algerian Super Cup final match between MC Alger and USM Alger as part of his ongoing African tour.

According to reports, the atmosphere quickly turned hostile as IShowSpeed moved along the pitch, with fans throwing water bottles and other objects in his direction. Security personnel swiftly intervened and escorted the streamer off the pitch to ensure his safety.

The backlash is believed to have stemmed from opposition by some football “ultras” — highly passionate fan groups — who strongly object to being filmed during matches. This unwritten rule within fan culture reportedly triggered the hostility, rather than any personal grievance against IShowSpeed himself.

Visibly shaken by the incident, the streamer was heard expressing his disappointment during the livestream, saying, “They don’t like me… Don’t throw water, bro,” before telling his team, “We leaving.”

The episode brought an abrupt and chaotic end to what IShowSpeed had hoped would be a positive cultural interaction during his visit to Algeria, marking a sour moment in an otherwise eventful African tour.
