Former Chief Justice David Maraga has revealed that he has so far raised KSh 7,745,788 to support his bid for the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement released on Thursday, January 29, Maraga expressed gratitude to 1,834 supporters who have contributed financially to his campaign.
He noted that a large portion of the funds—over KSh 6 million—came from Kenyans living in the diaspora, saying their support had given his campaign a significant boost.
“I am deeply grateful to the 1,834 of you who have made a financial contribution to our campaign, with a total of KES 7,745,788.04 so far,” Maraga said.
“I am particularly thankful to the Kenyans in the diaspora who have made a significant contribution of more than six million shillings, which has boosted our efforts immensely.”
The former Chief Justice reiterated his commitment to a people-funded campaign, a position he publicly stated in July 2025, when he announced that he would rely on contributions from ordinary Kenyans rather than traditional political financiers.
At the time, Maraga said he was confident that citizens would rally behind his bid and support his presidential ambitions financially.
