A man who ran toward William Ruto during a public address in Wajir has broken his silence, explaining that he had no harmful intentions and only wanted to speak to the Head of State about his political ambitions.
Man Says He Wanted to Discuss His MCA Aspirations
In a video circulating online, the unidentified man said he approached the President because he intends to contest for a Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in his area.
“Mimi nilitaka kuongea na Rais kwa sababu nasimama kiti ya MCA huko kwetu,” he said.
He explained that the President was concluding his speech when he decided to move closer in an attempt to greet him.
“That was the time the president was summarising his speech, and I just wanted to greet him. I didn’t know that my actions would cause trouble. I am hopeful that I will see him,” he added.
According to the man, he tripped and fell onto the carpet near the President before security officers intervened and carried him away.
