Matatu owners and operators have announced plans to stage protests every Monday until the government addresses what they describe as growing lawlessness among boda boda riders.
The operators say the continued unrest and alleged violent attacks on public service vehicles have made it unsafe to operate, accusing authorities of failing to rein in rogue riders and protect drivers, conductors and vehicles.
They warned that the weekly protests will persist unless decisive action is taken to restore order on the roads and safeguard the public transport sector.
