Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that he once had a heated confrontation with William Ruto at an airport, during which he challenged the Head of State over alleged insults.
Speaking to his supporters, Gachagua alleged that President Ruto insulted him in the presence of senior security officials, including Chief of Defence Forces Charles Kahariri.
“Iko siku moja (Ruto) amenitukana pale airport majina chafu,” Gachagua narrated.
He added that he responded firmly: “Nikwambie usinitukane mbele ya hawa, ungoje watoke unitukane mwanaume kwa mwanaume.”
“I Am Older Than Him”
Gachagua said he could not accept being insulted publicly, especially before junior officers and top security officials.
He emphasized that he is older than the President and should not be treated “like a child” in front of others.
The former Deputy President did not specify the exact date or location of the alleged incident but described it as a moment of intense disagreement between the two leaders.
Growing Political Rift
The remarks add to ongoing political tensions between Gachagua and President Ruto, whose relationship has been under public scrutiny in recent months.
At the time of publication, there had been no immediate response from President Ruto or State House regarding the allegations.
