Eric Wamumbi has announced that he will escort members of the family of the late Nderitu Gachagua to State House this week following an escalating inheritance dispute.

Family Seeks State House Meeting

Wamumbi said the family reached out to him seeking assistance after their concerns were brought into the public spotlight.

He revealed that he had since consulted William Ruto, who approved the request for a meeting, noting that the family has a right to be heard.

“They have asked me to facilitate a meeting at State House, and I will accompany them,” Wamumbi stated.

Denies Interference Claims

The MP dismissed claims by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that he had interfered in the family’s affairs.

“I had not met them before. It is only after you mentioned me that they reached out,” he said.

Wamumbi added that, as the area MP, he has a duty to support his constituents, especially on sensitive issues such as land and burial disputes.

Open and Transparent Meeting

He emphasised that the planned State House meeting will be conducted openly and during the day, dismissing speculation about secret engagements.

“They have shared documents with me showing the challenges they have faced. It is clear the family has gone through a painful period,” he added.

Gachagua Defends Succession Process

On his part, Rigathi Gachagua has maintained that the administration of his late brother’s estate is being handled lawfully.

He said the succession process is guided by a will left by the deceased, which outlines how the estate should be distributed among 21 beneficiaries.

“The law of succession is handled by courts. If anyone is dissatisfied, they should seek legal redress,” Gachagua said.

Dispute Over Estate

The dispute revolves around the estate of Nderitu Gachagua, who passed away in 2017.

According to Gachagua, the will clearly details how assets should be shared, with beneficiaries allocated varying percentages and three executors appointed to oversee the process.

President Pledges Justice

President Ruto has since pledged justice for the family as the matter continues to unfold, raising public interest in one of the most high-profile succession disputes in recent times.
