Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Coordination Dennis Itumbi has criticised Daily Nation over what he termed as a misleading report regarding alleged changes to school drama festival rules.
Itumbi Dismisses Claims
In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 7, Itumbi accused the media house of misinterpreting facts following a controversial front-page headline titled “Echoes of Silence.”
The report suggested that the government had introduced new regulations to restrict political messaging in school drama festivals.
Controversy Over School Play
According to the publication, a play by Moi High School Mbiruri had been knocked out of competition for referencing “Singapore,” linking the decision to revised rules.
The article further claimed that drama festival guidelines had been updated to impose a ban on political messaging, allegedly in response to last year’s controversy surrounding the play Echoes of War by Butere Girls High School.
