Media personality Willis Raburu has reportedly joined the Linda Mwananchi movement, marking a significant shift from media to active politics.
Entry Confirmed by Orengo
Siaya Governor James Orengo confirmed Raburu’s entry, describing it as a major boost driven by youthful energy and fresh ideas.
“Today, I had an engaging tête-à-tête with media personality Willis Raburu… he’s officially bringing his signature youthful energy, corporate MC expertise, and creative media edge to the Linda Mwananchi Movement,” Orengo said.
Kisumu Senatorial Bid
According to Orengo, Raburu is set to contest for the Kisumu senatorial seat, a move expected to reshape the political landscape in the region.
His entry is likely to appeal to younger voters and those drawn to his strong background in media and the creative industry.
Growing Youth-Driven Movement
The Linda Mwananchi movement has been positioning itself as a platform championing governance reforms and increased youth participation in leadership.
Raburu’s involvement is seen as reinforcing its appeal among young leaders seeking to influence Kenya’s political future.
From Media to Politics
Raburu built a successful career in broadcasting, having worked at Citizen TV for over a decade after joining in 2010.
He rose through the ranks from an intern to a news reporter and later became a household name as the host of the popular “10 Over 10” show.
He later moved to TV47, where he hosted the Wabebe Experience before exiting in 2024.
Political Impact
His transition into politics signals a growing trend of media personalities entering public service, leveraging their influence and public connection to mobilize support.
With the Kisumu senatorial race heating up, Raburu’s candidacy is expected to introduce new dynamics and intensify competition.
