Alfred Mutua has claimed that President William Ruto’s administration has created more than 6.2 million jobs across various sectors of the economy since taking office.
Speaking while highlighting the government’s employment record, the Labour Cabinet Secretary outlined what he described as significant job growth in both the public and private sectors.
According to Mutua, the public service sector has generated approximately 1.895 million jobs, while the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) sector has created around 2.1 million opportunities.
He further stated that the hospitality industry accounted for about 1.5 million jobs, with manufacturing contributing 443,000 positions.
The CS also cited transport and communication as having produced 75,000 jobs, while the construction sector created an additional 50,000 opportunities.
“If you add the figures I have mentioned, we are talking about over 6.2 million jobs created by President William Ruto’s government. Kweli mbele iko sawa,” Mutua said.
The remarks have since sparked debate online, with supporters praising the government’s economic initiatives and critics questioning the methodology used to calculate the reported employment figures.
The Kenya Kwanza administration has consistently maintained that job creation remains one of its key priorities, particularly through investments in infrastructure, affordable housing, digital opportunities, agriculture, manufacturing, and support for SMEs.
