The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a sharp increase in fuel prices in its latest monthly review, with Super Petrol and Diesel recording significant hikes while Kerosene prices remain unchanged.

New Fuel Prices in Nairobi

Under the revised prices effective from midnight for the next 30 days, motorists in Nairobi will pay:

  • Super Petrol – KSh214.25 per litre
  • Diesel – KSh242.92 per litre
  • Kerosene – KSh152.78 per litre

Petrol and Diesel Register Major Increase

According to EPRA, the price of Super Petrol has increased by KSh16.65 per litre, while Diesel has risen sharply by KSh46.29 per litre.

Kerosene prices, however, remain unchanged in the latest pricing cycle.

Pressure on Consumers and Businesses

The latest fuel price adjustments are expected to increase the cost of transport, food, and other essential commodities, especially as diesel plays a critical role in public transport, logistics, and industrial operations.

The increase is likely to pile more pressure on households and businesses already grappling with the high cost of living.

EPRA Monthly Pricing Review

EPRA reviews fuel prices monthly based on factors including global oil prices, exchange rate fluctuations, import costs, and taxation.

The new prices will remain in effect for 30 days unless revised in the next monthly review.
