Police have launched investigations following the fatal stabbing of former Parliament chef Kamau Mungai Gathogo during a domestic altercation at his residence in Ongata Rongai.
According to police reports, officers who responded to the scene found Gathogo inside his house with severe stab injuries. He was first rushed to Saitoti Hospital for emergency treatment before being referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialised care.
However, he succumbed to his injuries while being transferred to the hospital, prompting detectives to immediately launch investigations into the incident.
Benjamin Kiprono confirmed that the stabbing followed a confrontation that reportedly started inside the house before escalating into violence.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect, believed to have visited the deceased at his residence, allegedly used a kitchen knife found in the house during the altercation.
Police have since arrested one suspect who remains in custody pending arraignment in court.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, with detectives still working to establish the suspect’s background and the nature of the relationship between the two, as little is currently known about their prior history.
