Nairobi County Chief Officer for Customer Service and Citizen Engagement Geoffrey Mosiria has revealed details of a road accident involving his vehicle along Outering Road, accusing a lorry driver of reckless driving that nearly turned fatal.
According to Mosiria, the incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, May 2, when a lorry allegedly veered off its lane and rammed into their car, causing significant damage.
Speaking after the accident, Mosiria claimed the driver appeared to deliberately target their vehicle.
“He saw us on the right side and drove into us. He was on his right side and saw us but decided to cross over to the side we were driving on and jumped over, forcing us to the wall. He was supposed to let us pass, but he was driving his lorry like a matatu. This was intentional. It was reckless,” Mosiria said.
The county official further alleged that the same driver had attempted to hit them moments earlier, but they managed to avoid a collision after slowing down, something he says raised concerns about the driver’s intentions.
Following the crash, Mosiria and members of his team reportedly confronted the lorry driver at the scene, accusing him of endangering their lives.
The matter was later reported at Buruburu Police Station, where traffic officers responded to the scene and towed the lorry for further investigations.
Mosiria confirmed that he recorded a statement with police and stated that the lorry driver admitted fault.
“I recorded a statement, and the lorry driver admitted to his mistake on the road. I appreciate the swift response by the police. As investigations continue, we hope justice will prevail and appropriate action will be taken against the driver,” he added.
Authorities are continuing with investigations into the incident.
