A Catholic priest has stirred widespread debate on social media after he was invited to bless a newly launched high-end entertainment joint in Nairobi’s Roysambu area.

The club, identified as Syndicate, located along Mirema Drive, officially opened its doors to customers in a launch event that has since attracted significant online attention.

Videos circulating on social media show the priest leading prayers and blessing the premises as the club’s owners sought divine favor, protection, and success for the business venture.

The unusual ceremony has divided opinion among Kenyans online. Supporters of the move argued that every legitimate business deserves prayers and blessings regardless of the industry in which it operates. They maintained that seeking God’s guidance and protection should not be restricted to certain types of establishments.

Others, however, questioned whether it was appropriate for a Catholic priest to bless a nightclub, pointing to activities commonly associated with entertainment venues, including alcohol consumption and late-night partying.

The incident has sparked a broader discussion about the role of religious leaders in society and whether places of entertainment should receive the same spiritual recognition and blessings as other businesses.

While some viewed the blessing as a positive gesture aimed at promoting responsible business operations, critics argued that it blurs the line between religious values and the nightlife industry.

The videos continue to generate reactions across social media platforms, with many Kenyans sharing differing views on the priest’s involvement in the launch of the popular entertainment venue.
