Drama unfolded in Kimbo after a woman was reportedly apprehended by members of the public over allegations that she used a substance believed to be scopolamine, commonly referred to as “Devil’s Breath,” to rob unsuspecting victims.
According to accounts from the alleged victims, the suspect approached pedestrians under the guise of offering free perfume samples. Shortly after being exposed to the substance, some victims reportedly became confused and disoriented, creating an opportunity for the woman to steal their money and valuables.
One victim claimed to have lost more than KSh 29,000 after allegedly coming into contact with the substance.
The incident has sparked concern among residents, with many warning members of the public to be cautious when approached by strangers offering free products, samples, or promotional items in public places.
Authorities have not yet released official findings on the exact substance involved, and investigations are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Medical experts note that while scopolamine is a real drug used for legitimate medical purposes, many stories circulating online about “Devil’s Breath” are often exaggerated or lack scientific verification. Nevertheless, the public is advised to avoid accepting unknown substances from strangers and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
Residents have called for increased vigilance and awareness to prevent similar incidents, especially in busy shopping centres, bus stages, and pedestrian areas where fraudsters often target unsuspecting members of the public.
